Michael Denike - Manager & Therapist,
Expert John Barnes Myofascial Release Therapist
Michael was born in Florida and raised on farmland in Clayton, GA. He moved back to Florida for college to pursue a degree in Photography at Daytona State College. He successfully got an early career while in school with the highly sought-after dance photography company, Exulting Images. His life went from sitting in a classroom to a life in the air from one state to the next photographing dancers during live performances, as well as, setting up studios around the United States. After 2 years Exulting Images had him relocate to Charlotte, NC to work with the 9th largest dance studio in the United States! With 5 years of an incredible photography career under his belt, he discovered a passion for rock climbing. Taking some time to relax he turned rock climbing into a part-time job working at, Inner Peaks Climbing Gym. Walking into his interview with a polo and khakis the gym was quite amused with this “gummbie” who knew nothing about such an incredible sport. Yet they very kindly brought him on and thus began a love for a sport, a community, and adventures he never thought possible. When the time finally came Michael was taken outside for his very first outdoor climbing experience. He was taken to a local place for climbers, Pilot Mountain. The rock face we intended to climb was about a 20-minute hike going downhill and a bit of a scramble down some natural rocky stairs when we wanted to get our excitement going. With a Misty Mountain harness and some climbing shoes that were far too big he did his first climbs on real rocks. The one he looks back on most often was a climb called, “Dude on the Corner.” It had a moderate challenge rating and measured up to 50ft in height. This climb was the climb that changed everything in Michael’s mind. Getting caught in between a rock and a hard place literally will do that to some. Michael came to the realization he wanted to follow in his mother’s footsteps as a Medical Massage Therapist. That same day he applied to a massage school in Asheville, NC without a second thought. On the last day of school at 9pm he immediately returned to his family's home in Georgia to begin his training alongside his mother. This led him to be trained in Thai Massage for better body mechanics, Neuromuscular for efficiency with time management, Myofascial Release to respect and listen to the body, Myoskeletal to allow the body to discover its alignment, and Craniosacral to communicate with the nerves.
